Stamped Engineered Drawings for Pallet Racks

In any warehouse, pallet racking systems are the backbone of your operations, making sure storing and loading processes are in legal compliance is a must. Engineered racking drawings are the best way to establish the design and capacity rating for your warehouse racks and keep you fully compliant.

Unfortunately Knowing the load rating on your pallet racking is not as simple as it may seem, while some online retailers list “capacity” ratings for racking components they miss critical context. The actual racking load rating is not simply a sum of the parts, pallet racks are a structural steel assembly, and factors such as: first beam level height, number of beam levels, height to depth ratio, baseplate size, & stand alone bays significantly impact the overall system rating.

Pallet racks must meet stringent safety standards at all times, as enforced by the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario (OHSA). At Arbon, we are firmly committed to helping warehouses meet these guidelines through our engineered drawings and comprehensive racking services.

Are Engineered Drawings The Same As a PSR?

In Ontario you need a PSR on your pallet racking system to be compliant with OHSA regulations. A PSR can be done either through a PSR Exemption letter or Engineer Drawings.

  • PSR Exemption Letter: PSR exemption letters are issued by the racking manufacturer at the time of purchase for a new racking system. They state the system configuration and load rating for each beam elevation level. They satisfy the PSR requirement and are typically used on small to medium medium sized racking projects with low complexity. They cannot be used for existing systems that have no PSR or used pallet racking.
  • Engineered Drawings: Engineered racking drawings are P.Eng stamped drawings that show visual representation of the racking system layout (plan view) and racking configuration (elevation view). They are commonly used on new racking projects where the level of complexity is medium to high. Engineered drawings are also the main PSR option for racking that has never had a PSR done and for used racking that is being re-installed at a new facility.

Our Comprehensive Racking Services

Our Engineered drawing services pair excellently with any of our other rack-based services, including:

  • Layout design: Have new storage needs? No problem we can help design a new racking layout that accounts for proper aisle space, fire code, and loading requirements.
  • Installation: Our professional technicians can also handle your installation. We will be as involved as need, whether that’s supplying you with the materials or fully installing them
  • Inspection: Even after our evaluation, your racks should be reinspected ideally once a year. Our inspectors will return on a regular schedule to keep you compliant where it matters most.
